Soothe your body and soul with regular massage therapy….
Massage therapists often hear clients say ‘I should get a massage more often’. We couldn’t agree more! Safe, gentle and nurturing touch is vital to our emotional and physical wellbeing and isn’t just a luxury to be saved for special occasions.
As you read this spend a moment taking a few slow, deep breaths in and out. Tune in to your body. Do you have tight spots? Sore spots? Perhaps you have areas of your body that you don’t feel at all?
Massage can bring awareness back to how the whole body feels, not just the sore spots that gain immediate attention.
Massage has been shown to balance adrenaline levels and reduce cortisol levels, a hormone released by the body when stress levels are high. Cortisol can suppress the immune system, interrupt healthy sleep patterns and contribute to inflammatory responses. At the same time massage increases levels of dopamine, serotonin and oxytocin, hormones that help regulate mood and reduce stress.
Massage can improve circulation, reduce pain levels, slow the heart rate, deepen the breath and increase the rate of digestion (hence your tummy will often grumble during a massage regardless of when you last ate!)
On a superficial level, and coming in to the cooler months, massage is a wonderful way to nourish and moisturise the skin with beautiful plant based oils or waxes such as camellia or jojoba.
Regular massage is a wonderful way to improve and maintain your health and wellbeing. Our clients at Flourish often combine massage with other modalities available at Flourish, such as gentle SOT chiropractic, Acupuncture, Kinesiology or Naturopathy.
